How Can I Operate a Successful and Effective Leaflet Distribution Campaign?

As we briefly mentioned leaflet distributors have been the tour de force of traditional marketing but as well as providing a route for start-up businesses to build their brand, engage with potential customers and build trust, it is also a great way for maturing business to tell the masses about a new product or service. Whilst we are well aware that leaflet distribution does work as a marketing tool, planning and sustaining an effective campaign can be difficult. Check out these top tips for making your direct marketing project a success…

Being persistent is an essential quality that many direct mail marketers need to keep in mind and some just starting out may have unrealistic expectations about the results they will see short-term. It’s important to remember that the customer, although interested in your services, many not want them right away so don’t expect instant success and hundreds of enquiries from one round of distribution.

If the customer doesn’t require your services at that time, the likelihood is that your leaflet will be put to good use in a recycling bin or in the deepest, darkest depths of the junk mail cupboard. But don’t let this put you off, instead run repeat campaigns every 3 or 4 months to ensure you do get to a potential customer at the right time. Sending your leaflet distributors round the block multiple times a year will also make your brand and its products or services identifiable, which will build trust with your local or regional clientele.

If your business is seasonal then run campaigns to coincide with this. The same applies to the type of customer you are looking to target, if you are a relatively high end business and wish to target an affluent core demographic then design your campaign to meet these goals and reduce leaflet waste too.

As well as using leaflets to keep your brand in the public eye, make sure you offer special deals displayed with a striking yet easy to read design – after all everyone loves a freebie!
